Who Are We?

Green Cathedral was founded in 1996 by two Londoners, Michael Woodley and Paul Putwain, who first met in a Cambridge pub. The company was started with a £30,000 bank loan and has experienced average revenue growth of 70% per annum reaching £6m for FY2006.

The original vision of the founders was to create an Internet technology incubator without venture capital backing. This vision was realised by first creating a high growth and well-respected new media agency at the perfect moment just after the birth of the web. This web business (GCDM) grew to become a top 20 UK web solutions and search marketing company and provided us an ideal platform for the exploration of new Internet technologies and applications.

GCDM gave us continuous exposure to the needs and the problems of organisations of all kinds as they began to take the web more seriously and it brought us, by necessity for building complex web sites, talented programmers and developers capable of rapid prototyping of web-based software and applications.

GCDM was sold in 2007 to Golley Slater Group and now trades as Golley Slater Digital.

Green Cathedral remains privately held and the company is still majority-owned and controlled by its founders. The company employs no staff and is run solely by its Directors, each of whom brings a unique portfolio of experience and expertise.
